Build Your Model Portfolio with Photographer Colin Hawkins
I’ve had the pleasure of working with a wide range of models—from those just starting out to experienced professionals looking to refresh their portfolios. No matter where you are in your modeling career, I approach every shoot with the understanding that these images need to be versatile, and truly reflective of your personality and potential.
Showing Your Range is Key
Agencies and casting directors love versatility, so your portfolio should have different styles, moods, and looks. My photography can build or expand your portfolio and should help your modeling career.
Each collection of images shown below were created in collaboration with a variety of models during a single session over a few hours. The goal was to capture a diverse range of looks, styles, and expressions within that time. By working efficiently, we were able to experiment with different lighting setups, wardrobe changes, and poses—ensuring that each model walked away with a selection of different images for their portfolio.
Are you aiming for a sleek high-fashion editorial style?
Or do you need a more commercial, approachable, and natural look?
Do you need a series of portraits or do you need to highlight a particular skill or ability?
There are lots of questions so let’s figure out the best direction for you and create a set of images that you’d like to create.
Portfolio Photography for Commercial Modeling
If you’re focused on commercial modeling which is all about authenticity, we’ll capture a mix of headshots, full-length shots, and expressive, natural images that showcase your personality.
Every day casual clothing is usually the best choice of wardrobe to bring. Something clean and simple but avoid anything with logos! Bring a variety of diferent outfits so we can choose which works best.
Fashion Modeling – Portfolio Photography
If your goal is fashion modeling, we’ll work on poses, the styling and portraits.
The key is to create a balanced portfolio that speaks to a variety of clients and casting opportunities.
Hair and makeup decisions will make a huge difference to the over all look of the shoot along with the choice of wardrobe, which you’ll need to provide or source. Don’t forget any accessories as it’s the added details that sometimes matter. I’m more than happy to discuss ideas or wardrobe decisions and recommend people who can help.
Studio or Location? Why Not Both?
My studio in Bath is ideal for clean, professional shots and allow us to play with lighting, styling, and mood without any external factors getting in the way.
I often take portfolio shoots on location to add variety and a sense of context. Urban backdrops, natural or unique settings can bring an entirely different dimension to a portfolio. On location, the natural light and the environment can create a mood that feels more spontaneous and candid.
Portfolio Session Pricing
Portfolio sessions start from as little as £180, but every shoot is unique, with different requirements tailored to your needs.
The final price depends on several factors, including the length of time you’d like to book, whether we’re shooting in the studio or on location, the number of final images you’d like, and whether you’d like me to arrange a professional hair and makeup artist or stylist. If you have a specific vision in mind, I’m happy to discuss the best options to make it happen.
If you already have a hair and makeup artist you love working with, that’s absolutely fine. I’m more than happy to collaborate with them. And if you feel confident doing your own hair and makeup, that works too—whatever makes you feel your best in front of the camera or fits your budget.
You’re also welcome to bring along a friend, family member, or anyone else who can offer support and encouragement on the day. My goal is to create a relaxed and enjoyable experience so that we can both focus on getting the best possible shots.
At the end of the day, I want you to walk away with a portfolio that not only looks great but also helps you get work and help your modeling career. If you have any questions or want to chat about booking a session then please get in touch.
